What does an Internal Communication Manager do?
Internal Communication Managers work to ensure employees of organisations are kept informed and motivated. They do this by communicating through different channels such as intranets, email, social media and newsletters. They will often report through to a Senior Internal Communication Manager if an organisation is large.
What does a Senior Internal Communication Manager do?
Senior Internal Communication Manager roles will usually deliver more strategic internal communication activity. Sometimes they will also be line managers. Depending on the size of the organisation, they may be the most senior internal communications specialist in the company, otherwise they will usually report into a Head of Internal Communications or Director of Internal Communications or a Director of Communications. They may also be allocated responsibility for a specific internal communications discipline, eg channels, leadership, events or business areas. Sometimes they have a dotted reporting line to a specific department or division of an organisation.
What does a Head of Internal Communication or Director of Internal Communication do?
Head of Internal Communications and Director of Internal communications will be the most senior internal communications roles in an organisation. Depending on the size of the organisation, sometimes there will be both a Head of Internal Communications and a Director of Internal Communications, or a Director of Communications, straggling both internal and corporate communications.
