After hearing many stories over the last 18-months of roles being pulled, offered to internal candidates at the last minute or processes taking an age to complete, it was very refreshing to recently work at pace with a highly motivated client to fill an Interim Head of Communications role.
Matt Gibbs, Associate Director, outlined how he was able to place the role from brief to offer acceptance in just one week.
Here are a few reasons why the process was so smooth:
- ✅ A clearly defined brief
The client knew exactly what they wanted, sharing four (realistic) non-negotiables at the very start. This didn’t change throughout the process and made sourcing candidates a lot easier. - 📞 Regular Communication
I worked directly with the Head of Talent Acquisition, receiving regular feedback and updates rather than waiting days or weeks to hear anything back. It took little more than 90-minutes to review my first shortlist and schedule interviews, something which can take weeks depending on client workload, prioritisation or motivation to hire. - 👨💼 Working with a specialist
Before coming to Comma Partners, the client worked with a larger generalist recruiter. Although I’m sure they have brilliant recruitment consultants and a strong global brand, they don’t have the network in this specialist area so weren’t able to share candidates who matched the brief. - 📅 Availability to interview
When taking the job brief, we arranged slots later that week to be reserved for interviews. This sped up the recruitment process by reducing chances of future scheduling issues, whilst making sure all candidates briefed could make themselves available to interview in those slots, should they be invited.
That’s it.
Nothing ground-breaking, but the simple things really do make a difference when hiring. By trusting a specialist recruitment agency, the company increased its likelihood of finding the best candidate in the market while saving many business hours.
